Congratulations to Buchan’s Rachel Pettigrew who was awarded a Rising Star ‘Special Merit’ at the recent National Association of Women in Construction NZ Excellence Awards.

The Rising Star award celebrates women who are new to the industry, with judges highlighting Rachel’s positive story of pivoting careers as key to her being recognised.

The NAWIC awards programme aims to celebrate and honour the achievements of women working in construction and affiliated industries, as well as recognising those organisations active in redressing the gender imbalance in the industry.

This year, a record breaking 190 nominations were received across the 11 award categories.

Rachel was joined on the night by Buchan colleagues Raylene McEwan, Daren Alderson and Sophie Chapman from the Christchurch studio along with Rachel’s nominator, Kate MacDonald.
